Recently-opened documents?

Hi,

Unlike most apps, InDesign doesn't show a list of recently-opened documents on its File menu. Must one navigate to each document to reopen it? Or am I missing something?

Thanks, Andy

Have you recently changed your program with a plugin installation or are you resetting your preferences?

If you use TweakUI, or is it now TweakXP, to disable recent files in the Windows Start menu, amazingly, InDesign also assumes that you don't want recent files in it, either.

You have your choice of allowing that Start menu thing to work, and get your recent files list in InDesign, or not get it in both.

Incredibly and exclusively, too.

Yes, you're smart fellows. I do indeed have TweakXP hiding the Start Menu's Recent Documents list.

Well, I guess it makes sense: Adobe's engineers figured that if you didn't want people knowing what files you'd recently opened, that you probably, er, didn't want people knowing what files you'd recently opened.

At least ID seems to remember the last active folder. 'Twould be nice if all this could be an option rather than an assumption.

Anyway, thanks for clearing up the mystery.

IIRC, it took quite some time to figure out what was going on when it
was first reported.

Yep. We discussed this issue at length for many months before
"r_harvey" reported the answer in this thread about a year ago:
