How can I quickly convert all RGB images in InDesign to CMYK?

I have 54 RGB images in my InDesign CS2 file. The file is going to be offset printed, all images need to convert to CMYK. Do I really have to open every single one in Photoshop and convert manually? Or, is there a quicker way to do it from within InDesign? I am packaging the file. I know if I make a high res CMYK PDF, that is fine, but the printer wants a packaged InDesign file.

Export a PDF using the Press the preset and you should be good to go as
long as you have the proper profiles in the images and color management
set up correctly.

Thanks, Bob. Yes I have done that, but my printer is insisting he cannot accept a PDF. I dont normally use this printer (for that very reason!). This packaging of the file seems so "old school" to me..

Export the PDF, then make a new ID doc and place the pages from the exported PDF.

But it would be better to find another printer. It sounds like this guy is going to butcher your file.

The other option would be to make an action to do the conversion and run it as a batch command in Photoshop. That at least would be faster than doing it manually.

Make sure you save the images with the same name, but in a new location. Then move the original images out and the newly converted ones in and ID will ask to update the links automatically when you re-open the document. If they aren't already all in one folder, package the doc first to gather them into a single links folder and update the link path information.
