Dupe the table and cut the bottom off the first table and the top off the
second table. Make sure that you copy the entire table (Table > Select >
Table, then Copy) before pasting it.

I just posted a binary script that will do the job. Just click in a row of your table and it will split the table so that the row in which you click is the first body row of the second table. You'll get an error if you click in a footer or header row or in the first body row.

Get it here:

<http://pdsassoc.com/downloads/SplitTableAboveSelectedRow.zip>

After unzipping, put the file in the Scripts Panel folder of the Scripts folder of the Version 5.0 folder of the Adobe InDesign folder of your Preferences folder. It will appear in the User section of the Scripts Panel (which you'll find under View/Automation). Just click in your table at the appropriate place and double-click the script's name in the panel.

Hi, Dave:

The script appears with the name SplitTableAboveSelectedRow.zip in my download, but when I install it, it appears in the Scripts Panel > User as separateFilesFromPages.jsx!

Not surprisingly, it doesn't split the table, it moves the content to the specified page.

Peter,

I think something went wrong at your end. I don't have a file with that name on my computer and when I download a fresh copy it opens up as SplitTableAboveSelectedRow.jsxbin

I may not have made it clear that this is for CS3 only. CS2 doesn't know what to do with .jsxbin files.

Thanks for testing.

Yup, something WAS wrong at my end - the end that pays attention<G>. I placed the script into the Scripts Panel under ID CS3's directory, not the one under the user's Preferences. The script "separateFilesFromPages.jsx" script was the only script in the Scripts Panel under user's Preferences. So, although I invoked the correct script name under User, ID activated the only existing script there! Hmmm...

I see this is quite an old thread but I've just discovered it and would like to say this script is pure genius! I am woking on a large catalogue which has some long tables that I needed to split up. It has saved me hours of work and reduced the risk of mess-ups.
