Hi, I'm a student in high school and I am on the yearbook staff. I was wondering if anyone could help me on how I can change the default swatch color for picture placer boxes. I want it to have the default as the light green Process COlor Photo, but it is always on either none or Black and White Photo. What should I do to make that my default?

Create the swatch in the swatches palette if it is not already created. At the top of the swatches palette select the fill square (not the stroke square). With nothing selected click on the swatch you want to use. All new frames going will be filled with that swatch fill.

Ignore what I just typed. I misread your question. I do not know how to do exactly what you want done, but to change defaults, with nothing selected, select the setting you want to be default. If you have a document open that will be the default going forward for that document. If you want it to be default for all future documents, change it with no document open.

Does this help?

Frames made with frame tools (the ones with the X in them) always appear with stroke and fill set to none -- it's hard coded and you can't change it.

You CAN set defaults for the shape tools (the ones without the X), though, and there is no functional difference between drawing a frame with the frame tool and drawing a shape, other than this. Either one can be used as a container for text or images.

Two ways to go about it:

With nothing selected pick the shape tool and set the colors. Better is to create an object style. You can even edit the basic graphics frame style if you like. Then just click the style and draw with the shape tool. You can have as may styles like this as you like.

Thank you both very much. I appreciate it. I think our class problem is solved. Have a good day.
