InDesign CS2: problem placing images in the book

Hello everybody!
Please save my day and the coming BDay by helping me crack this NUT!
Here is the scenario:
I created master pages for the book and from THEM created pages. All the items in the pages are now locked. So, I start dropping images into the images boxes on every page, also, if needed, resizing the images inside the boxes. In the end, when I change my master pages it DOESN'T change the pages I moved pics into. I've tried SOOOOO many different ways in order to prevent this and nothing seems to work. What can I do????? I tried unlocking the images boxes, I tried to keep them lock, I tried to use "override all master page items" command before I work with the page... still, nothing! Somehow, no matter what i do, i always break the link and the changing of the master pages doesn't affect the pages. So, once again, my question is this: how do I work (drop images and text) with the pages so that in the end when i need to change something to the masterpage it will affect all the pages at once.

I'd BE REALLY happy if you could suggest solution to this one! GOD bless!

Generally speaking, once you place something into a master frame, it is overridden onto the document page, and only those attributes that you don't alter on the document page will remain tied to the master.

So, if you change the shape of the frame on the document page, changing the shape on the master page will no longer have any effect, likewise if you move the frame. What, exactly, have you done, and what are you trying to do?

Well, my main concern is trying to be able to apply changes once I build the book. Here is what I've done:
1. Created masterpages.
2. Built 300-pgs book from the masterpages (I have about 10 different masterpages for various layout for my book).
3. Filled the pages with the images and text (and I mean pages, NOT masterpages - those I leave alone)

4.Now with all my book pages full of images and text I want to say move the image box and change the width of the text box. To do this, I want to be able to just apply these changes to the masterpage so that it will make change to all the pages. This, of course, is so I don't have to go and make these changes to every page (89 in total).

The problem is, now that my pages are full of images and text, the links seem to be broken and the masterpages cannot affect my pages anymore. Just to show an example (please don't be offended by this) in Quark you could go to style sheets and change them on the fly and that would make the changes to all the pages. I want to be able to do the same here. I could be missing something here, so please help me!

Thanks a billion!

Peter!
PS:
I haven't moved or scaled picture boxes. In the masterpages they were empty, thus, when I created document pages from M-pages, they all have empty picture boxes. So, I started dropping pictures into them from the Bridge and resizing them inside the boxes (not changing pic boxes themselves). Does that count as overiding?

It sounds as if you've done everything right and you should be able to manipulate master items on the master page and have the document pages update.

You mentioned having used the flyout menu, I think, to override master items at some point. that shouldn't be a factor, but if you used the "Detach all master items" command, that would break the links.

Well, something is wrong. The funny part about all this is that, while playing with different scenarios, it did work on one image and didn't work on the other from the same page. And that's what drove me nuts. Almost looks like a bug! It's my first time working on a book, so I hope I'm just missing something.

I don't know what to tell you. Try it out with just a simple one or two page document with first one, then two, then three frames, and see how it goes.
