How do you move frames, such as the rectangle filled with a color, and images that are within it all together? All I can get to move is the frame itself. Help appreciated.

You're using the white arrow aren't you? One you go black you'll never go back.

By "move" do you mean change the position on the page (use the black arrow, as Scott says) or do you mean that you are trying to change the size or shape of the frame and the content at the same time?

Yes- I meant moving its position on the page. I tried the black arrow but it moves the rectangle and not the images within.

Are the images placed as the contents of a rectangle frame, or just placed over the top of a drawn rectangle? If the
latter, you will have to group them with the rectange to make everything move together.

When I go to Object with the image selected, I don't have an option to group- it's greyed out.

If you are only selecting one object it will be. You can't group one thing. But if you do have, as I'm guessing, images
and the rectangle as separate objects, you will need to select them all and then group them.

Thanks-one more thing. I cannot seem to select more than one image. I tried what the manual said but can only select one image at a time. I can't get any marque to drag to select. What am I missing?

You can select a group of objects by holding down shift while you click on each one in turn.

Dragging a marquee that takes in a part of all your objects should work - note that you don't have to have objects
completely inside the marquee. If it's not working, then there's something else wrong.

Are you seeing a dotted line rectangle being drawn as you drag the mouse?

I guess this issue is there are text frames under this rectangle so when I go to try and drag that text box gets selected and moved. Is there a way to disable th text box under the one I want? thanks again

There are a number of things you can do. Lock the text frame, or put it on a separate layer which can be locked or made temporarily invisible.

Is the image the same size/shape as the rectangle? This sounds a lot like you might be an old Pagemaker user who doesn't know you can add a stroke directly to the image frame (and a fill color too, which would show around the edge if the image were smaller than the frame). If at all possible you should consider if you can make the image and rectangle into a single object.

By the way, if there is transparency involved on the page, such as a drop shadow, you will want your text in front of the transparency, not behind it.

That's weird, I was responding to a post from Tim about a text frame under the rectangle, but it isn't showing up in the thread.

I'm glad of that Peter. I thought you had gone off into a little world of your own.

Who? Me? World of my own? Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there aren't really people out to get you. :)
