Hello,

Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to add a scratch disk for InDesign to use, like one can in Photoshop?

If yes, where can I find this option??

...The problem is my Virtual Machine, its C-drive is totally full and I will not have the time to clean it up any time soon.
So I added another disk and thought I'd let that one power InDesign, but now I don't know how.

Hope you guys can help, take care

Heleen

No. InDesign required a small fraction of the scratch space Photoshop does. You can specify any single drive or partition.

Are you saying I can point another (bigger) disk to act as RAM for InDesign?

You can select any volume or partition. It's in Preferences.

Yeah that's what I thought but I can't find it anywhere there.
I forgot to mention that I'am still on CS2... Not sure if that makes a difference. Can't find anything about it in Help either.
Can you please be specific to where I can find it?

Great to 'see' you again btw :) & thanks for the support, as always!

I'm on Mac, but the preference pane looks like this:

I'm not sure "scratch disk" is the proper term. I think the startup volume is where ID keeps temporary files. This is where your changes are temporarily saved in case of a crash. It's why you can recover unsaved changes or even unsaved files.

You mentioned "Virtual Machine". Are you only referring to the ME version? It might be different.

Well in this case, yes it's the ME version. But that version is exactly the same, except for some extra text tools. SO that shouldn't make a difference I think.

But I might have the problem with my regular InDesign soon too because my normal C-drive is almost full, too.
I should have IT have a look and throw away anything I don't need.
But IT is on a holiday so I had to figure out something else :)

edit - why does my picture not show...
uff... this just isn't my day :p

Heleen,

Don't include the time stamp. It's a bit hard to read as well :-)

Others: click the link, delete all after and including the '?'.
